Франси́ско Хавье́р Варе́ла Гарси́я — чилийский биолог, философ и специалист в нейронауках, наиболее известный концепцией применения аутопоэзиса к биологии, разработанной совместно с Умберто Матураной.

Один из основателей энактивизма и нейрофеноменологии. Практиковал буддийскую медитацию и изучал буддийскую философию. Принимал активное участие в улучшении взаимоотношений между наукой и духовностью. Стал одним из основателей института «Ум и жизнь». Wikipedia
