Most striking of all, these <Heinlein's> people are not preselected for their gigantic intelligence or their colorful personalities; they are simply a random sample of genus homo. So far as I can recall, there is not a character in any one of Heinlein's stories who is not essentially ordinary. Some of them have eccentricities: some are long-lived, one has an eidetic memory, another has two heads; but in every other respect, they are triumphantly commonplace.
