Гленн Теодор Сиборг — американский химик и физик-ядерщик. Благодаря его работам окончательно сформировалась новая наука — ядерная химия. Лауреат Нобелевской премии по химии «За открытия в области химии трансурановых элементов» совместно с Эдвином М. Макмилланом.[1].

Был автором или соавтором открытия десяти элементов таблицы Менделеева: плутония, америция, кюрия, берклия, калифорния, эйнштейния, фермия, менделевия, нобелия, а также элемента 106, который получил название сиборгий в честь Сиборга при его жизни.
